Overwatch 2: Paying skins over $45? Blizzard responds

The economic system ofOverwatch 2 has been talked about a lot since its announcement, and the community is worried about how the experience will be handled now that the license is moving towards free-to-play. If the lootbox system will say goodbye, probably for the better, fans are worried about having to spend considerable sums to obtain certain costumes, especially since Blizzard revealed the existence of a higher rarity tier for skins, namely mythic skins.

Blizzard takes the temperature

In recent days, anger has started to rise in the community following a survey sent by Blizzard to some members. On this survey, relayed on Twitter by Portergauge, we can see a question in which the editor asks whether or not the user is willing to pay for a $44.99 mythical skin in Overwatch 2, a legendary skin at $24.99, or even a legendary bundle at $29.99. Exorbitant prices for the community, which was quick to voice these fears.

IGN reached out to Blizzard for more information on this, and the publisher was quick to address concerns. He stated that some suggested answers were deliberately unreasonable, in order to gauge more broadly what it was possible to do or not :

This survey is entirely intended to better understand players’ preferences for different types of Overwatch 2 cosmetics. The prices displayed in the survey have been randomized by user and are not indicative of the final price. We plan to share details of our store and Battle Pass system closer to our launch. »

Don’t worry, mythic skins shouldn’t cost as much. At least, we hope so.

The PvP ofOverwatch 2 will be available on October 4 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
