Overwatch 2: The game has been under fire from several DDoS attacks since its launch

We are now used to seeing failed launches of online games. We therefore expected that Blizzard doesn’t really manage to ensure a good launch for Overwatch 2, given the expectation that reigned around the game and the fact that it is available in free-to-play. And indeed, the servers did not hold the load in the face of the influx of players from all over the world, but it is not all to blame on Blizzard, since the game has been the victim of successive DDoS attacks.

Hackers further complicate the launch

In addition to having to deal with server issues, Blizzard has therefore had to deal with malicious people who are still trying to undermine the integrity of the game.

Aaron Keller announced this on Twitter and confirms that a second attack took place this night, after the first which arrived at launch:

We are making steady progress on server issues and stability, as well as a second DDoS attack. We are all on deck and will continue to work through the night. Thanks for your patience – we’ll share more information as it becomes available.. »

Suffice to say that the next few days are likely to be complicated for Overwatch 2. We don’t know yet when everything will be put back in order, but we hope that the studio will manage to stem the onslaught of these pirates, so that fans of the license can finally discover this new opus. While crossing your fingers for the queues to settle at the same time.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
