Blizzard is not known to be good at communication, far from there. No matter the game, they are often criticized for being too far from their community and keeping too much information secret for too long. This is exactly what the company was accused of a few months before the release ofOverwatch 2. With almost no communication at the time on how things were going to go, the teams were called to order many times by the players, worried but also disappointed to know so little about a game that many expected to be the savior of the franchise.
Blizzard and its communication problems on Overwatch 2
Faced with these reproaches, Blizzard then announced that a change would be done and that players could expect a much more established communication for the release of Overwatch 2. Which indeed was the case for only a few days before Blizzard resumed its solo journey.
Indeed Blizzard again seems to be doing ostrich, the game didn’t even come out 3 months ago and yet players haven’t even had to play all the characters in the game at the same time for even a day, a character always being disabled each time.
These deactivations are not the only problem, between delayed patch notes, missing information on certain changes yet good in the game and lack of visibility on what is happening, Blizzard disappoints many players and it is several hundreds posts on these topics that emerge from the community.
A ray of hope for Overwatch 2
These problems could however come to an end very soon, Jared Neuss indeed took the position of producer for Overwatch 2 and seem much more inclined to discuss what’s going on with the game, the future and take player feedback into consideration.
In a post published this Thursday, he explains the main lines of the changes to come but also the problems the game is currently facing. Not everything is not perfect and there are still issues to deal with or solutions that are still a little light but Jared Neuss seems to be taking the communication to heartespecially on his twitter where he talks about Overwatch but also the games he plays, including competition like FFXIV.
It remains to be seen if one manager’s effort will be enough to correct the situation for Blizzard and Overwatch 2, but things seem to be going for the better.
