After four weeks of qualifying matches, Overwatch League teams are now gearing up for a major tournament: the Kickoff Clash. Here is all the information you need to understand what is at stake in this tournament.
The Kickoff Clash Format
This tournament is a regional event, with eight teams competing for all western regions and only four for eastern ones. These two events will take totally different forms; indeed the western teams play LAN in Texas while the eastern teams play online. For the western part, the Kickoff Clash will take place from June 2 to 5, while for the eastern part, the tournament will only start on June 3 and continue until June 5.
Matches will be double-elimination, with teams seeded according to their league point totals from the six games they were able to play in the first four weeks of competition. Clearly, the first weeks of competitions were actually the qualifications for this tournament.
When a team has reached three wins, the latter will be proclaimed as the winner of the match.

Cash prize and rewards
Between the western and eastern regions, the cashprize is different; indeed the teams of the west are much more numerous, therefore a larger sum is necessary. Here is the detail of rewards for teams during the Kickoff Clash.
West
- 1st place: $75,000
- 2nd place: $50,000
- 3rd place: $40,000
- 4th place: $30,000
- 5th and 6th: $15,000 each
East
- 1st place: $50,000
- 2nd: $35,000
- 3rd place $20,000
Each team that qualifies for the Kickoff Clash will also receive 1 additional league point for their participation; the second place team will receive 2 league points in total, while the tournament champions will receive 3 league points in total.
