Last night was the last match of a long competitive season on Overwatch 2, namely the final of the Overwatch League 2022 awaited by thousands of fans around the world. Any fan will remember the 2019 edition of the Overwatch League, with a nearly losing battle of Vancouver Titans It front of San Francisco Shock. This match went down in history with a combination of Out-of-the-ordinary, but horribly effective DPS: Mei and Bastion. While one would have thought of a third victory from San Francisco this year, the 3rd coronation did not go exactly as planned for the Franciscans.
This is’a team that had not yet won a title that is baptized this year: the Dallas Fuel. This game was enough to give chills to many people, because in the minds of the fans, it was the San Francisco Shocks who were going to win again in view of the almost perfect course of the team. However, the tournament Summer Shodown should have been a warning signal for the future coronation of the Dallas Fuel team which had achieved a very solid course and heralded great things for the opposing teams.
The Dallas Fuel were a team mainly made up of veterans of the competition, so unparalleled know-how was used to take the San Francisco Shocks back from the looser bracket. Unfortunately for the competition, very few people or players expected to have Dallas at this level of play.
The Grand Final was an emotional lift for everyone, for the fans as well as for the professional players: the match ended with a very tight match ending in suspense with the score of 3-4. We are very far from a demolition on the part of the Dallas Fuel, on the contrary, the two teams had the potential to inherit the title of champion 2022 of Overwatch 2; which brings a particular beauty to this match of anthology.
This year, the title of MVP was given to Lee “Fearless” Euiseokthe Tank player of the Dallas Fuel who knew how to lead his team with a masterful hand thanks to his various picks which are Winston and Doomfist. With a good balance between organization, communication and above all team cohesion, this Grand Final, which was played on the razor’s edge, was won by an unexpected team at this level of competition full of talent. The San Francisco Shocks are not to be outdone despite a great final and a solid second place, they will not achieve the 3rd coronation, but will be able to reassure themselves of having a solid roster which will come back even stronger during the 2023 season for perhaps to be getting revenge against the Dallas Fuel.
