After a faultless performance by the San Francisco Shock, they had to bow out against the Los Angeles Gladiators who were able to emerge from the darkness of the looser bracket of this weekend’s Midseason Madness in the Overwatch League.
After a full week of confrontation, the Los Angeles Gladiators showed the best of themselves with only one loss to their credit. Their first meeting against SF Shock was not easy, propelling them into the looser bracket. This defeat undoubtedly gave them some adrenaline, as they very quickly put Altanta Reign on the bench to take control only 30 minutes after to win the title. The momentum must obviously have a good effect on them to offer anthology matches of this kind.
In a 4-2 series, the Los Angeles Gladiators therefore inherit the title of world champion from Midseason Madness, with a last minute action that will allow them to narrowly take this new title. But what was the highlight of this game?
The endgame was very tense, with great action from each side, but it was on the last map, Dorado, that it all came together. ANS, the DPS of the LA Gladiators, was able to eliminate the opposing DPS in the most favorable timing, thus offering a brand opening to his allies. The playload was able to resume with a vengeance and a real highway occurred when we expected incessant blockades, since the map amply allows it. Point B was somewhat tough, but that didn’t put off the eyes of the LA Gladiators who were able to reach the checkpoint without too much trouble.
Thus, the LA Gladiators returned home with a new title to raise, $ 500,000 and 4 league points for the standings. Note that the LA Gladiators are now at the top of the regular season standings, with the SF Shocks just behind them (by only one point), then finally the Dallas Fuel with a much larger gap. The SF Shocks don’t come home empty-handed, however; indeed they have no title, but leave with $250,000 and 3 league points.
