What is the sweep tax?

This tax relates to cleaning of public roads, and can be implemented after deliberation in the municipal council. Again, a specialist in local taxation explained to the Parisian: “It is an additional tax to ensure the cleanliness of the streets, but it is not very widespread. In general, the cities already have more global contracts for the removal of garbage cans and the cleanliness of the streets. it’s a tax on the taxthat’s why few cities dare to implement it”he specified.

This is paid by the owners and co-owners each year. In reality, it applies, within the limit of six metres, to half the surface of the tracks in line with the facade of each property. The sweep fee is a ‘recoverable’ charge, for owners who rent a property real estate. Indeed, the latter ask the tenants to reimburse it, just like, for example, the tax for the removal of household waste. That’s good to know.
