The latest trailer not only shows a funeral scene (believed to be Wyatt’s), but also Marty’s journey to Mexico to restore Navarro’s control of the cartel. There’s more torture in Navarro’s homemade dungeon, you very much some sort of gala (perhaps for the Byrde Foundation?), a prison brawl, and plenty of guns. And – Attention spoilers – especially how Ruth points the gun at Javi and pulls the trigger on the holy day.

“Ozark” Season 4: Storyline

Netflix’s official description of Season 4 reads: “Marty and Wendy are rid of Helen and are climbing to the top of Navarro’s empire. They find another opportunity to leave the Ozarks, but some sins of the past remain unburied and the most dangerous threats come from their own family.”

So in Season 4, the Byrde family is sure to delve deeper into criminal activities entangle. By the end of Season 3, Marty and Wendy have become so intertwined with Navarro that there may be no escaping the entire family.

Following the release of season 3, showrunner Chris Mundy told Entertainment Weekly: “If we’re lucky enough to get a season 4, it’s going to be if Ruth can really create something of her own that she wants and that sustainable, or if she wants something else. And I think it’s going to be about whether the Byrdes can turn the biggest mistake of their lives into a huge advantage, and how much karma will catch up with them when they do that.”

A big question now is whether the family at the power struggles regarding the drug empire will eventually crumble. Although Marty and his wife, Wendy, became somewhat closer by the end of Season 3, their disagreements could yet manifest into a real argument about the future of the family. As Season 3 showed, both Byrdes have the potential to eventually do that Head of her own drug operation to become. Can they still manage to find a common denominator here?

In the latest trailer, there are again disagreements between the couple. “I’m just sick of blood on my hands, Wendy. Doesn’t that bother you?” Marty asks Wendy, looking desperate. “You’re so desperate to be the good guy. Why are you putting everyone else ahead of your own family? Don’t let me down when we’re almost done,” she replies.

In addition, the question remains whether the renegade Ruth, who left the family in season 3, will return to the Byrde team in season 4 – or could she possibly become a dangerous antagonist? And how does it work Death of Wendy’s brother on the family and what is happening in the coming season?

In the most shocking scene of the trailer, you can see Ruth tearing her revenge plans into action. But whether it really executes Javi in front of witnesses or they scene only in their imagination takes place, you will probably only find out at the end of April.

“Ozark” Season 4: Production and Cast

Showrunner Chris Mundy stated in a 2019 interview with the Hollywood Reporter that they “always talked about going for five seasons,” but that doesn’t seem to be happening now. Despite the change of plans, Mundy told Variety magazine:

We are very happy that Netflix […] Ozark more time to properly wrap up the Byrde saga. It was a great adventure for everyone involved […] so we’re thrilled to be given the chance to bring the series to the best possible ending.

Showrunner Chris Mundy in a statement on “Ozark” Season 4

Since we had to say goodbye to two key characters in Ben and Helen at the end of Season 3, cast members Tom Pelphrey and Janet McTeer will only return in flashbacks. In Season 4, however, we can look forward to seeing the familiar faces of the Byrde family again.

Jason Bateman will star as Marty Byrde, Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde, Sofia Hublitz as Charlotte Byrde, and Skylar Gaertner as Jonah Byrde. We can also count on Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore, Charlie Tahan as Wyatt Langmore, Lisa Emery as Darlene Snell and Davis and Jessica Frances Dukes as Special Agent Maya Miller. There’s also a good chance that the final season will see more of Felix Solis than Omar Navarro.

The cast also has two new additions. With Veronica Falcón (“Queen of the South”) and Grammy Award winner Ali Stroker, season 4 of “Ozark” gets prominent growth.

Falcón takes on the role of the sister of Omar Navarro, the head of the drug cartel. She is quickly becoming a big hit in the family business. Stroker plays Charles-Ann, a friend of Ruth’s mother. She steps in when she most needs a helping hand.
