Ozzy Osbourne is back with new music. The Prince of Darkness proves that 13 is anything but an unlucky number.

British shock rocker Ozzy Osbourne (73) has announced a brand new studio album. “Patient Number 9”, the Prince of Darkness’ 13th solo record, will be released on September 9th this year and will feature 13 tracks as well as numerous guest musicians. Among others, Eric Clapton (77), Zakk Wyld (55), Chad Smith (60) of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Robert Trujillo (57) of Metallica and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March of this year, will be heard be.

The album’s first single, title track “Patient Number 9,” featuring guitarist Jeff Beck (78), can already be heard. The first foretaste of the new album is over seven minutes long. The accompanying music video can be seen from Friday (June 24) at 4:00 p.m be admired via YouTube.

Finally good news again

Osbourne’s last record so far was “Ordinary Man” from 2020. Most recently, the 73-year-old had mostly caused less good news. In 2019 he had to cancel all tour dates of the year due to a respiratory illness, at times he was even in intensive care. In the same year, he was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, as he made public in 2020. A dangerous corona infection followed in April 2022 and just under a week ago Osbourne underwent surgery for persistent neck problems.

A short time later, the musician himself gave the all-clear, who wrote on Instagram: “I’m out of the hospital now and at home recovering well.” The Black Sabbath star added, “I undoubtedly feel the love and support from all my fans and I send a big thank you to everyone for their thoughts, prayers and well wishes during my recovery.” And what better way could the Prince of Darkness thank his disciples than with new music?
