A hotel with a sauna, swimming pool, or jacuzzi is overrated: the real luxury now – at least for the average gamer – is to have a high-end GPU.

Like other activities, e-sport also finds outlets in tourism. If in France, the presence of a sauna or a gym certainly outweighs that of the games room filled with super-powerful computers in the communication of a hotel, in China, the e-sport hotel industry is growing. Internet cafes ++ where it is possible to sleep in short.

Breakfast or the RTX 4090?

The Mydrivers site reports that more and more hotels are making the presence of gaming PCs a marketing argument to attract customers. If cybercafés are rarely equipped with the most powerful machines, our colleagues were interested in an e-sport hotel located in Ma’anshan, in Anhui in China. And what we can say is that it does not skimp on the means to seduce players: as you can see from the cover photo, it offers what is currently best in terms of cards “mainstream” graphics, namely the GeForce RTX 4090, just that.

We count about thirty (29 precisely) GeForce RTX 4090 Zotac Gaming, or 58,000 euros of goods on a basis of 2,000 euros per card.

Another shot shows luxurious installations, with the components installed in boxes fixed to the wall. Which necessarily means that there is a profusion of RGB effects, since, it is well known, humans, and even more so gamers, are irresistibly attracted to anything that shines…

In addition, the hotel manager explains his taste for video games and explains that he wants all players to be able to enjoy the performance of the GeForce RTX 4090.

A way to play on very high-end GPUs without breaking the bank

We don’t know the price per night for this hotel, nor the cost to access the computers. A Booking search in the city of Ma’anshan gives two results, with prices between 25 and 30 euros per night. The daily rates of a hotel are, of course, very dependent on its standing, but unless you sleep at the George V, most are fortunately lower than the price of an RTX 4090. Moreover, for the anecdote, the Paris/Nanjing Lukou International Airport return flight price is cheaper than NVIDIA graphics card.

Be that as it may, to return to a more general trend, the prices of very high-end GPUs make them inaccessible to more and more gamers and even professionals. Some people will therefore potentially be happy to access these technologies on an ad hoc basis, whether in a hotel or a cybercafé.

In fact, more and more companies, regardless of their field, are seeking to steer consumers towards renting rather than buying. In the context of gamers and specifically NVIDIA, the most emblematic example of this strategy is of course the brand’s cloud gaming platform. If you take the GeForce Now RTX 4080 subscription for example, billed at 20 euros per month at full price, i.e. 240 euros per year, you would have to use it for more than six years before the purchase of a GeForce RTX 4080 at its recommended price (1,469 euros).
