In what state of mind does Lea begin season 5?

Paige Spara: During the previous season, she lost her baby before birth… Season 5 will therefore be an opportunity for her to recover in small steps. Preparing for her wedding will provide her with a great opportunity to do so.

How did you react when you understood that she was no longer the secondary character at the start, but now a central role in the series?

It’s crazy, isn’t it? Initially, she was only to appear in two episodes. Lea had been imagined as a “gaming” neighbor, unable to finish her studies. It has changed and evolved a lot since then. I really feel very honoured.

Is it true that, to prepare for the auditions, you filmed yourself in your bathroom with your mother?

Yes, I was living in Washington, not the capital, but a small town in Pennsylvania, when I received a call from my agent and manager. I had to hand-write the lines for the cast. And the only room with good lighting in our house was the bathroom! So that’s where I sat with a camera, asking my mother to read me Freddie’s lines. The problem is that she was also reading the directions. I said to him: “Mom, stop! Just read the lines!” It took us four hours. David Shore, the creator of Good Doctor, then revealed to me that Hugh Laurie himself had filmed himself in a toilet in Mexico for the casting of Dr House!
