Painkiller on Netflix: this actress is the daughter of two stars and we bet you didn’t know it!

She plays the young Shannon Schaeffer in Painkiller on Netflix and she is the daughter of two Hollywood stars.

It’s a face you’re going to see more and more on the small and big screen. West Duchovny stars in Netflix’s latest hit, Painkiller, in which she plays Shannon Schaeffer, a saleswoman who works for Purdue Pharma. She notably gives the reply to Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick. But did you know that she is the daughter of two actors you most likely know?

As her name suggests, West Duchovny is the daughter of David Duchovny, unforgettable Fox Mulder of X-Files, and Téa Leoni (Bad Boys), who has been very rare on the sets since the end of Madam Secretary. At 24, the young woman follows the voice of her parents. And it is not his first attempt.

After a shy start in 2018 and TV appearances in The X-Files and The Magicians, she has a role in two productions this year. You’ve probably seen West Duchovny in the Saint X series (visible on Disney+), a psychological thriller worn by the star of Fear The Walking Dead.

She also stands out in Painkiller, a series that looks back at the origin of the opioid crisis in the United States. His character is enlisted by Purdue Pharma to knock on the doors of doctors and sell them Oxycontin, a painkiller based on opiate derivatives which will unfortunately make millions of Americans addicted. She will end up feeling remorse and will do anything to bring down the pharmaceutical company.

If this Netflix production is based on a true story, the same one chronicled in the excellent Dopesick, the character she plays on screen never existed. It was created by the screenwriters to point the finger at Purdue Pharma’s deceptive methods. But the American company actually trained sales people to promote their products. And those who achieve their goals were entitled to juicy bonuses….
