IAsked about the serious road accident in which Pierre Palmade was involved on Friday February 10, 2023 in Seine-et-Marne, Éric Dupond-Moretti spoke on the set of BFMTV, this Tuesday, of his project to draw up a list of products that can have adverse effects while driving. After the collision, the comedian tested positive for cocaine and synthetic drugs. Three people were seriously injured in the other car involved in the collision, including a pregnant woman who lost her baby.
The Keeper of the Seals “considers working on a certain number of products that can be ingested and which do not fall under the scope of a criminal offense, but which can have deleterious effects”. For the Minister of Justice, “it is time to draw up a list of dangerous products, especially when driving”, referring in particular to nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, a substance very popular among youth. A work that the former lawyer wants to lead “in the long term”, in the name of “nuance” and against “wait-and-see” or “too rapid reactions”.
“Voyeurism” around the Palmade affair
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, a few days after the accident, had expressed the wish to see the license withdrawn from any motorist under the influence of drugs. On this proposal, Éric Dupond-Moretti kicks in touch. “It is true that the question arises”, but it falls “within the scope of the Ministry of the Interior”, he indicates, while recalling that “the judge has the possibility of canceling the driving license” .

Invited to react to the Pierre Palmade affair, the Minister of Justice criticized the “voyeurism” and the “curiosity” around the news item. “The more we talk about this affair, the less the conditions of serenity are required. […]. Doing justice is difficult, the turnkey solutions that are sometimes sold to us are not the right solutions,” he lamented.
