Palmashow: after Les Vedettes, what is their next film?

Currently showing in the “Vedettes”, Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais will soon be reunited at the cinema. Not in front of Jonathan Barré’s camera but that of Quentin Dupieux, who had directed them in “Mandibles”.

Last May, when theaters finally reopened, Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais tamed a giant fly found in a trunk, in front of Quentin Dupieux’s camera. Since Wednesday, February 9, while Mandibles is visible on CANAL +, they participate in television games in Les Vedettes, under the leadership of their accomplice Jonathan Barré, director of their sketches and La Folle Histoire de Max et Léon, the first film of the Palmashow.

And it will probably not be necessary to wait very long before seeing the two actors again on the poster of the same film, because they have already shot in Smoking makes you cough by Quentin Dupieux. Which, for its tenth feature film, has brought together a best-of from its recent castings: Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais will find there their partners from Mandibles Adèle Exarchopoulos and Raphaël Quenard, but also Anaïs Demoustier and Benoît Pœlvoorde (Au poste!) or even Alain Chabat (Reality, Incredible but true).

As it was obviously not prestigious enough, the director also summoned Gilles Lellouche, Jean-Pascal Zadi, Doria Tillier, Oulaya Amamra or even Vincent Lacoste and Anthony Sonigo, central duo of Les Beaux gosses de Riad Sattouf that the Palmashow had cited among his favourites.

Quentin Dupieux therefore brings together his Avengers for a story, precisely, of vigilantes: the “Tobacco-Forces”, whose members go on a one-week retreat to find some cohesion, while their group is falling apart. A very absurd starting point and fitting with the universe of the filmmaker who, one imagines, will be able to take advantage of the comic talent of each of his actors, to offer us colorful situations.

Now just have to wait for the release date. Especially since another film by Quentin Dupieux is already in the starting blocks: Incredible but true with Alain Chabat and Léa Drucker, expected at the next Berlin Film Festival and then on June 15 in our theaters. Can we then expect that Smoking makes you cough goes through Cannes, where the director presented Rubber and Le Daim?

The Palmashow will then be on the small screen: the two actors have indeed taken advantage of the preview tour of the Vedettes to announce that they were working on the writing of a new program which will be broadcast in prime time, and whose filming will begin this summer.
