Pamela Anderson responded via Instagram story after the decision of a London court not to extradite Julian Assange to the USA.

WikiLeaks whistleblower Julian Assange (49), who was arrested in England in mid-April 2019, is not extradited to the United States. A London court came to this judgment. Actress Pamela Anderson (53, "Baywatch"), who is good friends with Assange, reacted to this decision. Instead of speaking up, however, she posted a video by WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson via Instagram.

The verdict is "a glimmer of hope to start the new year and hopefully a new era", according to Hrafnsson's statement, which should fully agree with Anderson's emotional state. Nevertheless, the Icelander also warns that while this will be a victorious day for Assange, it does not necessarily have to be a victory for journalism.

"Release Assange!"

In the video, Hrafnsson also expresses a wish that Anderson previously directed towards the outgoing US President Donald Trump (74): The US government should refrain from further prosecution and Julian Assange must be released. Before the judgment in London, human rights organizations had emphasized that Assange could not expect a fair trial if extradited to the United States. Instead, if convicted, he would face up to 175 years in prison.

Anderson and Assange have been friends for years – they are said to have met through designer Vivienne Westwood (79). Anderson had visited him several times in his refuge, the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, before he was evacuated from the building in April 2019.
