How the pricing table works
And 13! Ignoring the bad omens, the Lumix S 18mm F1.8 is Panasonic’s thirteenth lens for 24×36 L-mount bodies. This new wide-angle is also the fifth in the series with an f/1.8 aperture, after the 24, 35, 50 and 85 mm. All these lenses also share the same form factor, which should facilitate their production while harmonizing the range aesthetically. This type of focal length is particularly appreciated for architectural or celestial photography.
A minimum focus at 18 cm
Lightweight (340 g), Panasonic highlights that this pebble is a good ally in terms of the size of the Lumix S5, its smallest full-frame case. The optical formula is composed of 13 elements divided into 12 groups, 3 aspherical lenses, 3 extra-low dispersion (ED) lenses, an ultra-high refractive (UHR) lens and an ultra-low dispersion (UED) lens. The minimum focus distance is 18cm. Besides the focus ring, the lens has a switch to switch between auto and manual focus. The diaphragm is made up of 9 blades.
Panasonic has reinforced its optics so that it is well protected against the elements and functional between -10 and 40°C.
