After introducing you Panasonic’s new OLED series, it is time to give a little more detail on the different LCD ranges from the Japanese manufacturer, presented during an event which took place in Düsseldorf just yesterday. No less than 18 references have been added to the brand’s catalog, spread over 5 LCD series, including a Mini LED.
And the least we can say is that Panasonic’s offering is varied, firstly in terms of price and performance, but also in terms of user experience since three different operating systems are available. distributed across these five ranges: Fire TV, Google TV and TiVo.
A varied offer, without a large diagonal however
If you followed our last article concerning the five new OLED series, you have undoubtedly noticed that Panasonic does not seem to be taking the turn that we observe with other manufacturers. We first think of the strategies of manufacturers on which we observe a greater focus on Mini LED technology, sometimes to the detriment of OLED, and of course the increasingly open opening on the television market of ( very) large size, on which Hisense and TCL did not hesitate to go all out.
At Panasonic, only one Mini LED series is on the program for this catalog renewal with the W95A televisions. It is also the one which integrates the largest diagonal offered by the manufacturer since this series will be available with two references, 65 and 75 inches. Finally, the largest television from Panasonic remains the Z93A OLED with its 77 inches.
What to expect from the W95A, the Mini LED television from Panasonic?
The two references in the Mini LED series use a VA panel capable of going up to 144 Hz, with which we find Mini LED backlighting, without forgetting the presence of Quantum Dots technology allowing a wider range of colors to be obtained. . Please note that for the moment, we have not been able to find out more about the number of diodes or the number of dimming zones that make up this backlight.
Aside from that, the Panasonic W95A is in the same boat as the manufacturer’s OLED flagships, namely that it embeds the latest evolution of the HCX Pro AI MK II processor, the main improvements of which concern the machine learning algorithm which analyzes and adapts the image in real time, support for Dolby Vision at 144 Hz in game mode, or even Intelligent Sensing associated with the television’s brightness sensor and the famous Filmmaker Mode.
Same on the gaming side, Panasonic offers its True Game mode, to enjoy video game content as it was designed by their creators, on its W95A and W90A. Players will be able to enjoy a flawless gaming experience with the Enhanced Game Mode Extreme which notably includes a customizable dashboard, the possibility of adjusting input lag and VRR parameters, or even optimizing the sound depending on the type of game. Note that the W95A and W90A televisions are AMD FreeSync Premium certified, and should logically appear as G-Sync compatible.
Finally, if Panasonic skips DTS support, we find Dolby Atmos compatibility with the Dynamic Theater Surround Sound function supposed to improve the low frequency range on the W95A with its two 15 W speakers and its 20 W subwoofer. W.
Concerning the W90A series, it includes all of the features that we have just mentioned for the W95A, with the exception of Dynamic Theater Surround Sound, the W90A audio system also consists of only two speakers of 15 W. The other difference is of course the backlight. The W90A series will benefit from a similar panel, namely VA/144 Hz, without resorting to Mini LED technology. It will be necessary to count on FALD type backlighting, Full Array Local Dimming, in other words a distribution of LEDs over the entire surface of the panel, including modulation of their intensity over a number of zones unknown at the moment. Finally, the W90A and W95A will be powered by Fire TV.
W80A, W70A, W60A: spotlight on the more affordable ranges
First point of distinction between these different series: the interface. If the W80A will benefit from Fire TV, as is the case with the majority of the Panasonic catalog (and all OLED references), the W70A and W60A series make a different choice. Panasonic has planned to release its W70A televisions under Google TV, where the W60As will be powered by the TiVo system which seeks to offer a simple and intuitive connected experience to users.
For the rest, these three series feature more classic Direct LED backlighting and have a few other points of distinction, starting with the number of HDMI 2.1 inputs, the refresh rate, and even the audio section.
Finally, note that TiVo will not only be present on the W60A. Panasonic has also chosen to equip its entry-level televisions with the Xperi platform. This is the case of the S45A and S40A series, 60 Hz HD definition LCD televisions which will be available in diagonals of 24, 32, and 40 inches, just like the S55A and S50A series, which integrates Fire TV.
Finally, if you are looking for a TV without any Smart TV functions, it is still possible. Panasonic therefore intends its N30A HD Ready series for guest rooms, offices or small rooms!
