If you’re not careful, your cell phone or tablet will have an unsightly crack. Replacing a display glass on a smartphone can quickly cost several hundred euros, but it becomes even more unpleasant for infotainment systems in cars. A screen protector can prevent this.

One manufacturer that has been innovating in screen protection for 13 years is PanzerGlass™. So much so that the generic term armored glass has become a synonym for protective glasses. But why is a PanzerGlass™ screen protector so much more than just a glued-on pane of glass?

Protective glass is not just protective glass

A PanzerGlass™ screen protector consists of four layers. Each layer has an individual task. At the top is a grease-repellent coating. It is specially treated to resist fingerprints and smudges and keeps the screen clear. The additional antibacterial coating also eliminates up to 99.99% of the most common surface bacteria.

Underneath is a layer of tempered glass 0.4 millimeters thick. It protects your display from the consequences of direct impacts or scratches. It also improves the stability of the screen.

Underneath, a plastic layer is used, which, comparable to the windshield film, keeps your display glass taut. If your phone suffers a crack in the display due to a fall, this layer prevents it from spreading further or starting to splinter.

The last layer consists of a special silicone material. It simply attaches to your display glass like a suction cup.

This allows you to apply, remove and even clean the protective glass as you wish if dirt has gotten underneath. At the same time, fine scratches and cracks in your mobile phone display are optically concealed. With a PanzerGlass™ protective glass, no adhesives or the like are used, which means that no adhesive residue is left on the screen after the screen protector has been removed.
