Cosmetic surgery has long since ceased to be a taboo subject. YouTube star Paola Maria, 27, knows this too and talks about her breast augmentation seven years ago in her latest video. At that time, she had her A-cup enlarged to a double-D-cup – but not without complications.

“I can hardly believe that I’m really telling it,” the 27-year-old begins her 15-minute YouTube video. She is sitting on her couch at home. The mother of two wants to talk about her breast surgery that she had when she was 20 years old. At that time she felt very uncomfortable with her A-cup and decided to have it enlarged. Paola admits: “Cosmetic surgery is all well and good, but there is another side too. And today I’m talking to you about the other side.”

Paola Maria: Your shirt was soaked in blood and pus

In retrospect, Paola sums up that she did not deal with the risks of such an operation in sufficient detail. She does not blame her doctor for this, she is solely responsible for it, she admits at the beginning. And that happened: Paola’s scar on her chest became infected after the operation. She woke up one morning and found that her shirt was soaked with pus and blood. The wound had opened, the implant was already peeking out.

The doctor didn’t take them seriously

Since Paola was in Cologne for a shoot, the mother of two decided to go to a hospital on site and not to Hamburg, to the doctor who had also performed the operation. “I curse the day I went to this hospital,” says Paola, looking back. Because the doctor didn’t take her seriously. “The doctor just stuffs the wound with cotton wool and compresses. I started to have a fever. I was sweating, I was warm, I was in pain.”

No new implant was placed in order for the wound to heal

In the evening she went to her surgeon in Hamburg and had an emergency operation there. “The wound was cleaned and no new implant was inserted,” says the 27-year-old in the video. Another shock message followed from the surgeon: “The doctor told me that the wound would now have to heal on its own and that no implant can be inserted for the time being.” A period that was set for six months. In the time with only one breast, Paola fared very badly. “I cried for months,” she says in the video.

“When I was 20 I was too stupid”

“I was ashamed of Sascha too. I felt completely uncomfortable and withdrew. I was disgusted with myself,” Paola describes the time with only one breast implant. “Now,” reflects the 28-year-old, “I think very differently about cosmetic surgery” and gives her followers the tip: “Wait until you reach a certain age with cosmetic surgery. Until you can assess the risks. At the age of 20 I was too young and too stupid. ”
