Ex-King Albert II’s wife was unfaithful to her husband

The rumors persisted, now Paola from Belgium admitted: she too had an affair and was unfaithful to ex-King Albert II.
Surprising confession from Paola of Belgium (84): In a TV documentary, the wife of ex-King Albert II of Belgium (87) admits to having been unfaithful. This is the unanimous report of the Belgian media, which was given a preview of the documentary “Paola, côté jardin” broadcast by RTBF. Accordingly, Paola tells there in detail about her marriage crisis: “For ten years, from 1970 to 1980, I was very, very unhappy.”
At that time, her husband had an affair with Baroness Sybille de Selys Longchamps (80), which was later revealed, from which the daughter Delphine (53) arose. For many years there have been rumors that Paola was not always faithful to her husband either. Now she has confirmed an extramarital affair with photographer Count Albert Adrien de Munt. “I don’t feel guilty at all,” said the Italian-born. It happened at a time when things weren’t going well: “It was a bit of selfish love.”
Marriage was on the verge of divorce
Her marriage was hanging by a thread at the time, the divorce papers had already been filled out, only the signatures were missing. But then her husband won her back: “I was very sad until Albert said at some point: ‘I’ve always loved you.'” It was good to hear that again and the old feelings were suddenly there again.
The former King Albert II, who abdicated in 2013 in favor of his son Philippe (61), married the Italian Princess Paola Ruffo di Calabria in 1959. The marriage resulted in a total of three children: King Philippe, Princess Astrid (59) and Prince Laurent (58). In 2005 Princess Delphine claimed to be an illegitimate daughter of Albert, in 2013 this was confirmed by a genetic test. The king at the time previously questioned paternity. Since 2020, Delphine has also been able to officially call herself a princess after a court ruling.
