Paraglider injured – Am Bischling: Three crashes in three days

Disastrous weekend in Werdenweng: There were three crashes in just three days at the popular paragliding hotspot. Two of those involved in the accident suffered serious back injuries.

On Sunday afternoon, a German paraglider hit the ground around 50 meters below the take-off point at the 1,830-meter-high Bischling in Werdenweng. He must have made a flying mistake. The 61-year-old suffered serious back injuries. The team of the “Martin 1” rescue helicopter rescued the man on the rope and flew him to the Schwarzach Clinic. On Saturday, a 39-year-old Czech man crashed shortly after take-off from Bischling. He remained uninjured and climbed back to the starting point on his own. However, the pilot was no longer able to recover his parachute in the impassable area overgrown with pines. Specialists took care of that on Sunday. The series of breakdowns began on Friday. A 61-year-old aviation athlete went into a spin because his emergency parachute suddenly opened. He fell at high speed from a height of almost 300 meters onto a meadow and was seriously injured in his back.Three local paragliders provided first aid. Three local paragliders observed the accident: a 33-year-old doctor and mountain rescuer from St. Johann and two Gollingen mountain rescuers were flying immediately went to the man and gave the injured person first aid. He came to the Schwarzach Clinic in the emergency helicopter.
