Paramount+ will clean up its catalog. After having canceled four series, we learn that the latter will disappear from the catalog for good.
It’s a blow for Paramount+ subscribers. The platform announced a few days ago the cancellation of 4 series: Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy (animation), Queen of the Universe (show) and The Game (sports series).
These four productions should also disappear from the catalog this week, as explained by Paramount+ in a recent statement.
A strategy identical to that applied by Disney + and HBO recently, which allows them not to pay tax on its productions and thus save money. The studios also justify a rapprochement with Showtime in the United States to rework their strategy.
An announcement that has a hard time passing on the side of the teams and the creators. Many are stepping up to express their dissatisfaction. Annabel Oakes, showrunner on Grease, spoke in Instagram stories a few days ago :
“Unless she finds a new host in the meantime, she won’t be visible anywhere. The cast, my crew and I are devastated by the disappearance of our series. Thank you to all of our wonderful fans.
The series will continue, despite its cancellation. I liked what you did with it, your Tiktok, the fanfiction… What we would like now is for you to watch the series before it disappears.”
The musical series Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies takes place four years before the action of the film Grease, following the formation of the group of “Pink Ladies” with Rizzo, Jan, Marty and Frenchy.
