After Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+ will be one of the next streaming services to hit the French market alongside a certain HBO MAX. The service will be available from December 2022, thanks to a partnership with Canal+.

Fact, subscribers to the Ciné Séries packages will benefit from unlimited access to the platform. Of course, it will be possible to subscribe to the service without being a customer of the encrypted channel. While waiting for its arrival in France, know that the platform has just celebrated with great fanfare its launch in Ireland and the United Kingdom this June 22, 2022.

For the occasion, several stars will come to walk the red carpet like Sylvester Stallone. According to Tom Ryan, CEO of Paramount Streaming, Paramout+ “is a mountain of fun for the whole family, the only service where you’ll see Syvester Stallone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek and South Park all in one place, and it all makes Paramount+ what a streaming service is supposed to be ”.

Paramount+ opts for diverse and local programs

To hope to be able to stand out from the many competitors present on the market, Paramount+ has developed a simple but effective strategy, which relies on diversity and location:

  • 9,000 hours of programming available at launch, with series and films from various Paramount studios such as ShowTime, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon
  • Invest in local programs to offer series/films able to meet the expectations of subscribers in each country (in the United Kingdom, 2o series made in UK have already been ordered)

Thus, the streaming service has already announced its ambitions: develop no less than 150 exclusive international original content by 2025. The production of series and films stamped Paramount + will belong to VIS, the international studio of Paramount. “Paramount’s story began with Hollywood’s oldest studio, and today we span the globe with our global production studios creating hits for audiences around the world, who now live in one location: Paramount+”.

Regarding the pricing policy, Paramount+ is available for €7.99 per month in or €79.90/year in Ireland. Unless there is a last minute surprise, these prices should be the same for France. To sum up, this is a positioning quite close to that of Disney+, with a monthly price set below €10. Something to be attractive, without necessarily selling off the service.
