Netflix, Disney + and Co. are getting muscle-packed competition: At the beginning of March, the new US streaming service Paramount + starts with a strong lineup.

Will Paramount + be the next big player in the highly competitive streaming market? The service, which was launched in the USA on March 5, has now announced a first extensive list of its offerings and has left some mouths open for a long time among film and series fans. The Paramount group secured the rights to the planned films "A Quiet Place 2", "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Mission: Impossible 7" at the start.

It is planned that 45 days after the US theatrical release, all Paramount + subscription customers can enjoy the blockbusters in the stream at no additional cost. The upcoming James Bond flick "No Time to Die" will also find its streaming home shortly after its cinema release following a deal with MGM at Paramount +. But that's not all, of course: the service will be launched with a total of 2,500 films. Numerous live sports and music broadcasts as well as series and film productions are also planned.

For example, sequels of the horror film classics "Friedhof der Kuscheltiere" and "Paranormal Activity" are already in production. The "Avatar" universe is also to be expanded to include new films and even series. In addition, the service plans to continue the "Star Trek" series "Discovery", "Lower Decks" and "Picard" exclusively. It is still unclear whether Paramount + will also be launched in Germany. However, industry insiders suspect that they will initially concentrate completely on the US market.
