Dhe vintage trams that run in my hometown of Ufa, Bashkir, have a heartwarmingly retro style, especially since the city never had the money to fix them. But recently the trams have been repainted. They were always blue-yellow, but suddenly turned blue-white overnight. When journalists asked the city fathers why, they spoke of renovation. Strange, the trams were hastily repainted, but there is no money for repairs. In addition, wagons that were not blue and yellow kept their old color.

Everyone knows what the problem was. It sounds like a joke, but we live in this absurd reality: in Russia, everything that resembles the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag is feared. Administrative officials are most afraid. They probably fear that because of any trams, the secret services might suspect them of working for Ukraine or being critical of the war. But the residents of Ufa are already joking that the trams are now reminiscent of the blue-white-blue flag of the Russian opposition and opponents of the war, which is why they will soon have to be painted over again.
