Parasite Eve: Square Enix registers the Symbiogenesis brand, soon the return of Aya Brea?

The franchise catalog of Square-Enix has lightened up a bit recently with the sale of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal (tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kainetc3) to Embrace. But the Japanese studio still has a bunch in reserve, some a little forgotten.

But here it is Square-Enix has just registered the trademark Symbiogenesis ” in Japan. A term that translates as “Symbiogenesis” in French and which designates two organisms merging together to create a single new organism. Yes, this clearly echoes the scenario of Parasite Eve.

But why such a name? Well, Dusk Golem reminds that the brand Parasite Eve is owned by Hideaki Sena, author of the eponymous novel which inspired a film then the games of Square-Enix. After some discussion, the Japanese publisher was allowed to keep the name for the first two games (and their reissues), but if a new opus is to see the light of day, it will have to use another name. That’s why the PSP game is called The 3rd Birthdayand if fourth opus there must be, it will not be called Parasite Eve 4but why not Symbiogenesis.

Of course, there is nothing confirmed here, Square-Enix only dropped a curious brand name, but fans are obviously hoping for the return ofAya Brea in a new game. While waiting to discover what is hidden behind the name “Symbiogenesis”, you can find cards NHP on Amazon.
