Parcoursup 2023: the key dates to remember for your wishes and your post-Bac orientation

Parcoursup is the obligatory passage for students wishing to continue their studies in higher education. The 2023 campaign is launched. Here is the schedule to know and the essential points to remember.

It’s go again. The new Parcoursup campaign started for the year 2023. Students in high school know that it is through this door that their post-Bac orientation will be played out. In France, hundreds of thousands of young people are affected each year. But for the future, everything will depend on obtaining the precious sesame: the baccalaureate.

Parcoursup is aimed at students who are in their final year and who wish to continue their studies, but also for students wishing to reorient themselves after their first year. It has been the compulsory point of passage for higher education since 2018, replacing the Admission Post-Bac (APB) service. In all, more than 21,000 training courses are listed.

Parcoursup provides access to frequently asked questions for those who need information more specific to their situation.

The main dates of Parcoursup in 2023

December 20, 2022: opening of Parcoursup

The platform reopens for the 2023 post-baccalaureate orientation campaign. Since December 20, students can find out about available courses – there are more than 21,000 and apprenticeship is included. Each course has its file: criteria for examining applications, possible tuition fees, professional opportunities, further studies, etc.

January 18: registration and formulation of wishes

It’s time to register to create your file. Each student can indicate 10 wishes (and sub-wishes, depending on the training). It is possible to formulate 10 more, if they are apprenticeship training. It is recommended not to wait until the last day to get started: if ever the site has a problem in the event of too much traffic, you will have a problem.

The wishes are accompanied by a sheet with the appreciation of the teachers and the opinion of the head of the establishment. Other information that may circulate between your file and the courses: the student’s motivation, his school reports, his marks obtained in the baccalaureate, the school record and various other elements – which may be required more in the case of more selective.

March 9: last day to formulate your wishes

Don’t wait until the last day.

April 6: last day to complete your file

This is the time when you will have to send the final documents requested by the training courses requested. This is also the time when you will have to confirm all your wishes.

June 1: start of the main admission phase

Responses to training requests are coming. It will be necessary to come back from time to time, because the returns will arrive continuously in the days and weeks that follow. Each proposal must be answered within the deadlines indicated in the file. The favorable answers are “yes” and “yes, if”, if there are conditions. There may also be “no” and “pending”.

The “yes, if” can imply specific commitments from the student, because your school level presents a certain fragility: this can take the form of an upgrade, support, tutoring. All answers, even negative ones, should be consulted in their personal file. If you’ve only had rejections, see the rest of the guide.

June 15: beginning of the complementary admission phase

This step is an opportunity to make a maximum of 10 additional wishes in courses that still have places available. This is a phase that lasts until September 18. The procedure for registering wishes is similar. Courses that have space are listed on Parcoursup. Support may be requested during this stage.

July 4: results of the 2023 baccalaureate

The fateful moment. Once you have your results (and you don’t need to go through remedial or transplant your year), you must accept one of the trainings that has said yes to you. From there, you must follow the administrative registration process, according to the steps indicated in the file. Then it will be back to school.

July 13: end of the main phase

Don’t wait until the last day.

New Parcoursup in 2023

The Parcoursup platform evolves from year to year to enrich its content and bring new functionalities, in particular by taking into account the feedback it receives. Each edition can also be an opportunity to extend the range of training courses taken into account. This was the case in 2022 for example. For 2023, here are the main changes to remember.

  • One new search engine to ” provide clearer, richer and more transparent information » ;
  • Thematic pages (learning, health studies, scholarship, housing, etc.);
  • Of the training sheetsrenovated to better understand the criteria for analyzing applications defined by the training » ;
