PARIS (Reuters) – Emmanuel Macron asked the Minister of the Interior and the Paris police chief that no bookseller from the banks of the Seine be forced to be moved during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games organized this summer in the capital, we learned on Tuesday from the head of state’s entourage.

“Noting that no consensual and reassuring solution could be identified with these actors, (the president) shows them his attention considering that it is a living heritage of the capital,” declared a source at the ‘Elysée, adding that Emmanuel Macron requested that the security system be “adapted accordingly”.

According to a person close to the matter, this “possible arbitration” on the number of spectators present on the banks of the Seine for the ceremony had already been taken into account by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, who should give details at the end of March on the entire safety system.
