670 days before the start of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games (August 28 to September 8, 2023), the disabled sports world is organizing to make this event a showcase. Marie-Amélie Le Fur, head of the Paralympic Committee for French Sport, is working to develop this sports sector.
Responsible for supporting the athletes and offering them the best conditions for the Paralympic Games, Marie-Amélie Le Fur affirmed, at the microphone of the Sports decision makerswanting to “boost the French disabled sports ecosystem” in order to “make sport accessible to more people with disabilities.”
An Athletes’ Commission to come
“The territorial network is for us the key point for disabled sport to develop,” said the former athlete, nine times medalist at the Games.
Through these Paris 2024 Games, Marie-Amélie Le Fur intends to “highlight the athletes. It is a showcase for democratizing disabled sport in France”, sometimes too little known to the general public. The latest event, Paralympic Day, October 8, 2022 Place de la Bastille, was “a great success”.
“The Parisians have discovered our daily life,” rejoiced the president of the Paralympic Committee for French Sport.
And to reinforce this momentum of visibility, “an athletes’ commission will be set up” so that the athletes can coordinate and put their disciplines on the front of the stage.

And the stakes for Marie-Amélie Le Fur are high. These Paralympic Games organized in France “must make it possible to break the taboos around disability.”
“We will be able to speak calmly about the Paralympic movement” which tends more and more to impose itself and to “awaken consciences in France”, underlined the former athlete at the microphone ofEurope 1 Sport.
“Thanks to Paris 2024, we listen to communities and territories much stronger than before,” added the president of the Paralympic Committee for French Sport.
An ideal ambassador
And Marie-Amélie Le Fur knows what she is talking about. With 9 medals collected over four Olympiads, the former disabled athlete wishes to support disabled athletes as closely as possible.
“I am lucky to be at the head of a dynamic team. Having been a high-level athlete, I pay attention to them on a daily basis”, reminded the guest of the Sports decision makers.
An ideal ambassador who for the moment has not set a goal for the French delegation during these 2024 Games. But she intends to break the record for medals won in Tokyo. The French had then harvested 55 in total.
