This opening, which occurs in the middle of the war in Ukraine, has nothing to do with the geopolitical context, assures the academy of Paris.
German, English (British), Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Polish… and now Russian. In September 2023, a new international section will open in a Parisian college, in this case the Jacques-Prévert college, located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district (6e arrondissement).
After written and oral tests, the young people admitted will return to school in September 2023 at Jacques-Prévert, where they will benefit from ten hours of Russian language instruction per week: four of modern language 1, four of language study and literature and two history-geography in a foreign language.

This Russian section is not a first in France, since there are already some in Strasbourg, Valbonne-Nice, Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Bordeaux. And in the capital, the Littré elementary school (6e district) also has a Russian section, active since 2018.
