Paris: a driver damages the Pont au Change after a refusal to comply


Slightly injured, the driver of the vehicle was arrested.

A motorist hit the Pont au Change in Paris on Sunday June 19 around 8:30 a.m., after refusing to comply, learned Le Figaro from a police source, confirming information from BFM TV . A police crew was chasing the vehicle when it hit the bridge, the source said.

The police then got out of their car, put the driver on the ground and handcuffed him. He was conscious but slightly injured. An investigation is underway as well as an assessment of the damage caused.

The Pont au Change is one of the 37 bridges in Paris over the Seine. Located on the border of the 1st and 4th arrondissements of the capital, it connects the Ile de la Cité, from the Courthouse, to the right bank, at the Châtelet theatre. It was built from 1858 to 1860 under Napoleon III.
