A minor was taken into custody on Wednesday after attacking a man in Jewish religious attire in the metro in Paris, the prosecutor’s office said on Thursday. According to investigators, the attacker spoke to him in Arabic and kicked him in the back.

According to a police source and the prosecution, the man, wearing the distinctive signs of the Jewish religion, was attacked early Wednesday afternoon in the metro corridors between La Chapelle and Gare du Nord stations. The attacker spoke to him in Arabic and kicked him in the back, according to the police source.

The victim filed a complaint

The police officers from the railway network brigade, in possession of the author’s description visible on the images from the station’s video protection cameras, spotted him and arrested him.

The victim, who was not injured, filed a complaint, said the police source. The accused being a minor, it is the public prosecutor’s office at his home which will be responsible for continuing the investigation, added the public prosecutor’s office, specifying that at this stage his address had not been precisely established.
