Paris: between 3 and 6 million euros in watches and jewelry stolen from an art dealer


The apartment of an art dealer was robbed by one or more criminals in Paris this Sunday. The value of the stolen watches and jewelry is estimated between 3 and 6 million euros. An investigation is underway.

Around 6:15 p.m., the caretaker of the building telephoned the police, telling them that a building located in the 7th arrondissement of the capital, rue de Bellechasse, had been the victim of a burglary.

After being informed, the owner of the apartment rushes to return to his home to welcome the police, as related by Le Parisien. On the spot, the patrol finds that the front door has been forced.

When the judicial team arrives, the priority of the place confirms that many luxury items have been stolen from him, including watches and jewellery.

While the investigators of the banditry repression brigade are responsible for carrying out further investigations to try to identify the criminal(s) and determine if the art dealer was targeted or if it is a simple ” chance”, the technicians of the scientific police have, them, noted the borrowings. Among the first observations, the alarm system was disconnected at the time of the events.

The victim known to the judicial services

The owner of the burgled apartment was in turmoil in 2015.

Indeed, that year, in Geneva, the name of the art dealer appeared in a judicial inquiry. He was suspected of having collaborated with a Swiss businessman named Yves Bouvier. The latter overcharged the sale of works by the great master to a certain Vladimir S., a Russian oligarch. A complaint had been filed against the merchant for fraud.
