Paris calls for the release of the crews of the two Greek oil tankers seized by Iran

PARIS, May 29 (Reuters) – France on Sunday called for the immediate release of the crews of two Greek oil tankers seized on Friday by Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

“The seizure by Iran of two oil tankers flying the Greek flag, on May 27, 2022, in the Gulf constitutes a serious violation of international law that France strongly condemns”, writes the Quai d’Orsay in a press release.

Iranian forces seized the two vessels shortly after a warning from Thran of “punitive measures” against Athens after the United States confiscated Iranian oil from a boarded vessel off the Greek coast. (Edited by Claude Chendjou)
