Paris Fashion Week: These fashion houses are waiving because of Corona

Paris Fashion Week has been shaken by the corona pandemic, and designers are also feeling the effects. Many fashion houses pinch.

New York already presented in mid-September, Paris now wants to follow suit to the same extent. Despite the adverse circumstances surrounding the corona pandemic, the starting signal for Paris Fashion Week will be given on September 28. Fashion houses such as Hermès, Dior and Chloe will present their spring / summer collections 2021 until October 6 – subject to certain guidelines.

As early as June, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) confirmed that the women's week would take place, but added in a short notice that it "will comply with the recommendations of the public authorities for implementation". It also stated that "the event will be supplemented online with a tool developed for Paris Fashion Week".

While some fashion houses are trying to keep up with the fashion calendar despite Corona, other designers are changing course. Industry giant Yves Saint Laurent decided to pull out of the fashion weeks for the rest of the year, as the company announced in an Instagram post. Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello (38) wrote: "Saint Laurent takes responsibility for its own calendar and launches its collections according to a plan that has been conceived with a current perspective and is driven by creativity." In other words: no more fashion weeks for 2020.

Fashion giants are backing out

Gucci didn't miss the home game at the Milan Digital Fashion Week in July, but the Italian fashion giant backed down for the away game in France. Regarding the ongoing Corona crisis, Art Director Alessandro Michele (48) said in an interview with the English Vogue: "We are a big label, so we are responsible for looking after our industry. We have to give it the time that she needs. " Michael Kors is also not listed in the Paris Fashion Week schedule, preferring a special format in October / November. Fans can look forward to at shows by Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Kenzo and Chanel.
