Some evil spirits will say of her that it is the new Dacia Duster, others that she inherited the ass of a Mini. However, it is indeed a Renault and not just any. Before our eyes is revealed the 4Ever Trophy, an (umpteenth) 100% electric SUV which prefigures the production car without its off-road fittings. Beyond being one of the spearheads of the brand with the future R5 Prototype, this 4Ever Trophy will have the heavy mission of replacing the 4L, the transgenerational vehicle sold in more than 8 million copies in more than 100 country.

At the time, the terms durability and reliability were not mere marketing arguments, especially concerning the 4L, a fighter of cities and fields, and even deserts. This is how the 4Ever Trophy takes up the standards of its ancestor.

Each tire incorporates a compressor allowing the tire pressure to be adjusted instantly from the cabin to adapt to the nature of the terrain.

We note the presence of XXL wheel arches, running boards, a body height culminating at 1.90 m, a body reinforcement, sand removal plates, a shovel and a spare wheel placed on the roof. In short, the ideal car for exploring sandy areas. Whatever Renault says, hard to find one “obvious stylistic affiliation” with the 4L, even if its bodybuilder body would have been removed.

There is only the horizontal front grille, adorned with round LED lights, which allows you to vaguely unearth an air of resemblance to the late 4L. Identical situation at the rear with headlights in “capsule form” which, for once, seem to have been borrowed from a Mini.

With a length of 4.16 m, a width of 1.95 m and a wheelbase of 2.57 m, the future 4Ever will be based, like the electric R5 Prototype, on the CMF-BEV platform dedicated to segment B electric vehicles.

On the engine side, the automobile will surely integrate an electric motor “wound rotor” with a power of 100 kW (135 hp) and powered by a battery of around forty kWh, sufficient for trips around town. On the other hand, given the aerodynamics, autonomy may take a hit.

As for the price, it is the big unknown. Not sure that the 4Ever is sold at the same price as its 1965 ancestor. Indeed, it was necessary to pay 12,960 francs at the time, which would correspond today to 18,162 € taking into account inflation and the change of currency.
