the final victory reaches out to Primoz Roglic after his success on the 7th and penultimate stage of Paris-Nice on Saturday. The Slovenian tamed the Col de Turini to consolidate his leader’s yellow jersey before the final stage on Sunday.
In the group of five riders who went on the attack, the cyclist from the Jumbo-Vism proved to be the strongest, clearly ahead of the Colombian Daniel Martinez and the Briton Simon Yates. The Colombian Nairo Quintana, fourth in the stage, and the Portuguese Joao Almeida finished a few seconds behind the Slovenian.
This is also the third victory for the Jumbo in this stage race.
In the general classification, Roglic (32) increased his advantage over Simon Yates to 47 seconds and 1 minute over Daniel Martinez.
The last stage on Sunday, with start and finish in Nice, multiplies the climbs (five) in the hinterland over a course of 115.6 kilometers. The summit of the last difficulty, the Col d’Eze, approached by a new road, is located just 15 kilometers from the finish.
