Paris opening: the CAC 40 paused below 8,200 points

THE TREND

(Boursier.com) — After opening in the green, the CAC 40 gave up a few points as it approached 9:30 a.m. (-0.10% to 8,160 points) without showing itself capable of approaching 8,200 points, with a plus high of the day at 8,179.81 points. He remains not far from the absolute record of 8,218.07 points, established last Thursday. On Friday, the closing record was pushed back to 8,164.35 points.

Last week, the resilience of the economy and the surprise rise in consumer prices (CPI) and producer prices (PPI) reawakened inflationary fears. The American central bank is expected to announce a new status quo on its rates on Wednesday. Goldman Sachs indicated on Monday that it now anticipates a rate cut in the United States of only 75 points this year compared to 100 points previously, while JP Morgan reduced its forecast in this area from 125 points to 75 points.

WALL STREET

Wall Street ends the session with a further decline on Friday, still digesting the poor inflation figures (consumer and producer prices) announced this week across the Atlantic. On this day of the Four Witches and an anthology of macroeconomic publications, the S&P 500 lost -0.65% to 5,117 pts, but remained more or less stable over the week. The Dow Jones dropped -0.49% to 38,714 pts (-0.14% weekly). The Nasdaq fell by -0.96%, sliding below 16,000 points. The technology stock index ended at 15,973 pts (-0.29% during the week).
