Paris, restoration of paintings & space: 5 YouTube channels to discover in March 2023

From the restoration of paintings to the history of Paris, through space and video games, here is the selection of YouTube channels to discover in March 2023.

It’s been almost six years since we opened the Best of YouTube format, where once a month we list a selection of five channels that deserve a look. To date, we are already approaching the 370 channels highlighted. One might think that there is not much left to present. And, yet. Here are five new ones, which we did not know until recently.

If you want to follow us, go to YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, to browse our own channels.

The Paris painting

This YouTube channel is only two years old, but it is promising: it wants to tell the story of the city of Paris – hence its name Le tableau de Paris – through its monuments. The videos are coming out at low speed: those that are available are devoted to the Place des Vosges, the Elysée Palace, Le Corbusier, as well as an accelerated retrospective of the evolution of Paris since Antiquity.

Steve

Here is a new channel dedicated to history on YouTube: Stevius. His center of interest? Battles and conflicts, but also military equipment, such as tanks and armored vehicles. Different periods are covered, however the videographer has been focusing for a few months on a current war: the one between Ukraine and Russia.

PsEuDoLeSs1

The PsEuDoLeSs1 channel is dedicated to video games. You will find in particular reviews of titles – called pseudo-reviews here –, but also comments on video game news and retrospectives of the past year. There are also a few formats like Red Barrel. This one is about annoying little things in the video game, like invisible walls.

Baumgartner Restoration

This is content that – we think – you should not come across often on YouTube, unless you are a painter or work in this medium. The Baumgartner Restoration chain specializes in painting restoration. This fascinates the crowds, if we rely on the number of subscribers to the channel: more than 1.7 million.

Space Aperitif

If like Numerama, you love space, the Space Apero YouTube channel is waiting for you. In the company of Anna, doctor in astrophysics and cosmology, we will discuss several seemingly familiar subjects, but which you may not know intimately: the Big Bang, Starlink, black holes, extraterrestrials or even the theory of special relativity.
