While the pension reform was officially adopted, numerous demonstrations took place on Monday March 20 in the evening with some excesses. The protesters are still as determined to mobilize against the reform.
The street is still crying despite the adoption of the pension reform. In Strasbourg, Lyon, Nantes, Rennes or Paris, the demonstrators continue to pound the pavement against the government’s project. Each time, these scenes turn into excesses, between clashes with the police and damage. In Paris, hundreds of people were gathered in the four corners of the capital. 171 demonstrators were arrested in the capital.
The reflection of the anger of the French
Younès is disgusted by the adoption of the pension reform: “We shout things that are hard to hear. It’s just a reflection of the anger of the French. We have to hear each other. By ignoring us, it’s just going to get worse. get worse,” he explains. The young man continues on his way rue de Rivoli after pulling a barrier in the middle of the street. “Paris, rise up!” shouted another demonstrator, taken up in chorus by dozens of people.
A new day of national mobilization
It’s a game of cat and mouse that is being played in the streets of Paris as CRS try to disperse these spontaneous processions. An important security device is deployed on the Place de la Bastille, a symbolic place for the demonstrators. Aurore tries to join the place: “I find the people’s anger very fair. We just want it to be heard. I think it’s now that we’re mobilizing and we can’t wait any longer.”
This teacher affirms it: she will still take to the streets against the pension reform. Thursday, a new day of national mobilization is planned.
