The Spaniard was discharged from the intensive care unit of Sevilla hospital on Wednesday. The football goalkeeper “will continue to be followed and to receive nursing care”.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico, victim of a serious riding accident at the end of May, was released from the intensive care unit of Seville hospital on Wednesday, the latter said. “Sergio Rico has been discharged from the intensive care unit of Virgen del Rocio Hospital,” the establishment wrote in a press release. The guard will be able to integrate another floor of the hospital where he “will continue to be followed and to receive nursing care”, added the Sevillian establishment which will inform of his condition when there is “significant news”.
Placed under sedation
Last week, the hospital had indicated that the player was conscious and could communicate, confirming what his wife had indicated to the media. The 29-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was taken to Virgen del Rocio Hospital on May 28 after suffering a traumatic brain injury following a riding accident during the El Rocio pilgrimage in Andalusia. He had been placed under sedation and life support.
Sergio Rico, who joined PSG in 2019, received many tributes, including that of the public at the Parc des Princes, who chanted his name throughout PSG’s last match of the season against Clermont in early June.
