HysetCo, the company founded by Air Liquide, IDEX, the Société du Taxi Électrique Parisien (STEP) and Toyota in 2019, was selected by ADEME as part of a call for projects.

It received a grant of 21 million euros to build the first urban station for the production and distribution of hydrogen, with a capacity of one ton per day. A showcase for the company’s technological know-how, the station will be followed by five others in Île-de-France.

The first hydrogen service station will be in Paris

There are already many hydrogen distribution sites in Europe, France and even in the Paris region. However, the HysetCo station is a world first, in that it will be able to produce one ton of hydrogen per day: a revolution of scale in an urban environment. Designed by the HysetCo consortium, born from the initiative of the hydrogen taxi company Hype, in collaboration with Air Liquide and Toyota, this new station will complete the current network, made up of four stations between Orly, Roissy, Porte de La Chapelle and Pont de l’Alma. It is in addition to other ongoing projects, which will allow HysetCo to operate around fifteen stations in the Île-de-France region by 2024, including ” two will have an electrolyser allowing decentralized low-carbon hydrogen production », Adds the prefecture of the region.

Customers will thus be able to refuel at the same speed as for a thermal vehicle and for a price quite close to that of gasoline. The difference to other conventional “pumps” is that users can program the amount to be loaded via a mobile app and the gun cannot be removed until the machine allows it.
