When the international field of participants from all over the world waits for the starting signal at the 2,665 meter high Valluggrat, adrenaline takes on a face. Seven and a half kilometers and 1,300 meters in altitude have to be overcome in the legendary race to St. Anton in the valley. In between, they have to climb the “Schmerzensberg” on foot or skating style and after the subsequent, mostly bumpy section of the slopes, they still have to overcome meter-high mountains of snow to the applause of the audience before the starters reach the finish and celebrate.
