But where do the hottest beach parties go? We show five beaches in Europe whose party nights are legendary. But what does nights mean here, partying usually starts at 4 p.m. and often lasts until the early hours of the morning.
1. Spain: Playa de Calella on the Costa Brava
56 kilometers east of Barcelona is the prime example of summer holidays: the typical Catalan town of Calella with its 3.5 kilometers long, coarse-grained sandy beach. Especially young party kings come here on the Costa Brava. They love the huge range of activities on and beyond the party mile: from beach soccer to parasailing, volleyball, jet skiing, diving, skydiving to kayaking.
The highlight, however, is the dancing in the sand, the many good-humored young people and the music on the beach. If you really want to party, you will find the party location of your life here. If that is still not enough, a little further on in the direction of France Lloret de Mar, the classic among the Spanish party locations, which comes right after the Ballermann on Mallorca.
2. France: Saint Tropez "Le Club 55"
Should it be a bit more dignified and civil, since you are perhaps already past the age of the Abitur exams? Then let's go to the exclusive “Le Club 55” in Saint Tropez in the south of France, which is also considered the cradle of the jet set. Here is celebrated in the luxurious and glamorous way. "Plage de Pampelonne" is the name of the beach on the Côte d’Azur, a bay lined with pine and olive trees with azure blue water and six kilometers of fine sand.
Ordinary mortals meet stars and starlets in the legendary “Le Club 55”. In the 1950s there was still a simple, private wooden booth here when Brigitte Bardot lolled half-naked in the sand in the scandalous film "And always lures woman" and was entertained there with her team after filming. That was the hour of birth of the now most famous beach bar on the French Mediterranean coast.
Although the Beach Club is a place of pilgrimage for celebrities from all over the world, every guest is treated equally here – according to the philosophy of the host Patrice: "The guest is not king, but friend." Hollywood stars and people like Chuck Norris, Bill Gates or Bono appreciate the unobtrusiveness and the not at all exuberant luxury of the beach bar. Vacationers like the sun loungers on the beach, which offer an unusual view of the sea: the super yachts of the jet set. In the evening, the champagne flows freely when the beach parties of the rich and famous rise.
3. Croatia: Zrce on the island of Pag
The Croatian island of Pag lies peacefully in the Adriatic Sea to the north of Zadar. However, if you go to the party beach Zrce, you end up in the middle of Europe's youngest destination for party vacationers. The motto on the pebble beach is: party and dance until your legs buckle – you can sleep even in winter. After all, the summer sun makes people more alert and vital. To get the adrenaline flowing during the day, there are fun activities such as bungee jumps or trips on pedalos or speed boats.
At 4 p.m. the party time begins with the so-called after hours, which often last until the morning. A handful of clubs are available in Zrce, offering everything from foam parties to top international DJs that young party people need.
4. Greece: Paradise Beach on Mykonos
First the naked, then the party animals: in the early 1960s, nudists discovered Paradise Beach in the south of the island of Mykonos. The name of the beach has been the program ever since, it has changed from a lonely nudist retreat to a cult party location that attracts tourists from all over the world. The summer parties in the Paradise Club, which start at 4 p.m. and often last until sunrise, are legendary. There is not only the hottest bikini beauties here, but also an open-air atmosphere, and you can hear the sound of the sea from the VIP deck – simply a great atmosphere.
For a little break on the party island, it is strongly recommended to visit Mykonos Town. Because the island's capital is a figurehead in terms of design and architecture. No building is higher than two floors, which makes the island a coherent work of art – including party flair in the south.
5. Bulgaria: Golden Sands on the Black Sea
Most people don't know very much about Bulgaria, except that there is a party alarm here on the Black Sea. And that has been spot on for years, in the truest sense of the word. Golden Sands is the name of the five kilometer long, up to 100 meter wide and fine sandy beach.
Beach girls and boys particularly appreciate the low prices for beer and cocktails on the golden beach. Half a beer for less than two euros is not only available at the beach parties that are always well attended, but also in the numerous beer gardens and bars around the so-called “party pearl of the East”. Incidentally, the term “Black Sea” does not match the crystal-clear water quality. The sea water is only less salty here, and the tides are also weak.
