A 25-year-old man was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of having killed a former friend with a hunting rifle on Friday, the Béthune prosecution said on Monday July 18.
The man is also being prosecuted for carrying weapons and attempted murder for attacking the victim’s father. The investigations are now continuing under the direction of an investigating judge, in particular to establish the motive for the crime, said the prosecution.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was killed by a shotgun blast on Friday around 3:30 p.m. near his home in Bailleul-sur-Berthoult (Pas-de-Calais).
The victim’s father, who had tried to disarm the perpetrator, was injured after being beaten on the head, the gendarmerie told AFP on Saturday.
