Pas-de-Calais Four dead on the A1 in a collision with a car on the wrong way


Four people including a teenager died following the collision Wednesday evening on the A1 motorway in the Pas-de-Calais of two vehicles, one of which was traveling against.

A 15-year-old teenager, who had been transported to the Lille CHR in serious condition, died Thursday, according to the Arras prosecutor’s office.

The firefighters were called shortly before 10 p.m. for this “face-to-face” collision between two cars on the A1 motorway, in the Lille-Paris direction, near Izel-lès-Equerchins (Pas-de-Calais).

A 60-year-old woman in the wrong-way vehicle

A 60-year-old woman who was in the oncoming vehicle and a man and a woman in their 20s who were in the second died. The teenager, who was in the second vehicle, was extricated and transported to the Lille CHR.

An investigation into the cause of death has been opened.
