The winner of the Tour in 1978 believes that the subject of doping should not only affect cycling: “it irritates me a little, because we only talk about us, but we should also look at other sports”.
According to him, cycling has been the victim of doping cases, but the authorities have reacted to counter the phenomenon: “Yes, the sport has experienced difficult periods, but cycling is the most controlled sport and the first to have struggled against this phenomenon”, he concludes.
