This Saturday, June 11 in 30 years of cult programs on TF1, Arthur returned to the animosity felt by Pascal Sevran towards Vanessa Paradis. A rejection that the singer gave her well.
She is arguably France’s most famous child star. Vanessa Paradis began his career at 14, with his hit “Joe the cab” released in 1987. The daughter of a painter and an actress, the young girl was then propelled into the spotlight, for better or for worse. During 30 years of cult showsa program broadcast on TF1 on Saturday June 11, Arthur returned to his years of animation, in particular at the head of Furya karaoke show he presented from 1995 to 2000 with Pascal Sevran. Disappeared in 2008, the one who hosted many cult PAF programs was, according to Arthur, not tender with the young singer: “He had two requirements: he had to always have rosé in the fridge and that we never talk about Vanessa Paradis.“, he confided on June 11.
An anecdote which is not surprising, since Pascal Sevran has never hidden his animosity towards the ex-wife of Johnny Depp. The latter had challenged the artist on the set of a program presented by Michel Denisot, in 1987. The ex-author of Dalida had then addressed a sharp pike to the one whose music did not appreciate: “When I hear you sing, well, rather when your voice reaches my ear, i have some concerns about your future. And I wonder if you’ve given serious thought to what job you’re going to be able to do when you leave school…“, he had launched to Vanessa Paradis. Faced with this criticism, the teenager had not hesitated to return the ball to her interlocutor: “I don’t know what to answer him, me, Pascal Navrant…“, she had replied. The latter had in particular been defended by Michel Bergerwho predicted to him “a great career“.
Vanessa Paradis harassed: “I was called all the names”
If she has never lacked repartee, Vanessa Paradis has experienced difficult times in her early days. The one who made her first TV at the age of 7, in L’Ecole des fans, revealed in 2018 that she had been the victim of school harassment. An outburst of violence that would have pushed her not to continue her studies: “[…] I took the RER to go to school, it was mockery, insults, insults, tags on the house, I was called all kinds of names“, she told Le Monde which dedicated a portrait to her. Words corroborated by the testimony of the singer Elsa. Revealed at the same time and in the same register as Lily-Rose’s mother, the one who was presented as her rival has become her friend. In 2015, the interpreter of Do not go told Doolittle magazine: “She lived in a very aggressive and traumatic climate. What she went through at 14, I wouldn’t wish on anyone. She was insulted by everyone. She left the stage crying, it was excruciating.“, she remembered. A past now behind the 49-year-old performer, who has since proven himself in the cinema as well as on stage.
