Un incident in a bus sparked a lively controversy in the Bouches-du-Rhône. A driver of line 50, which connects Aix and Marseille, spent the entire duration of the journey, that is to say forty minutes, a surah from the Koran in the loudspeakers of the bus, reports France Bleu Provence. Passengers tried to oppose it before leaving for Marseille, but the young driver – whose age was not specified – replied: “It’s my bus! I do what I want. If you’re not happy, you get off. »

Faced with the scathing tone of the bus driver, the fifty passengers did not dare to rebel more than that. An Algerian retiree tried one last time to reason with the driver and make the other passengers react by asking aloud: “These are verses, it’s religious. Does that bother anyone for secularism? Nobody reacted and the bus started.

“It reminds me of Algeria… The Islamists played it on the buses”

When he got off the bus, the Algerian passenger, who testified to France Bleu Provence, was beside himself. “It reminds me of Algeria, with the FIS (Islamic Salvation Front). The Islamists, they passed that on the buses. It is forbidden today in Algeria! And I hear it here… […] ! This young man, when he does that, he brings up the National Rally! »

Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the driver in question, who denies having played verses from the Koran on the loudspeakers of the bus, and only explains that he listened to them on his phone. He faces disciplinary proceedings.
