As on every second Tuesday of the month – the patch day – Microsoft provided various updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on March 8, 2022. There are also updates for Office, Windows Defender and other Microsoft programs. The special thing about it: That Babsolutely for Ssecurity in the Informationstechnik urgently warns of the security gaps that are plugged with it and assigns the rare risk level 5.
Vulnerabilities in several programs
While the BSI speaks of 71 closed vulnerabilities, Microsoft released updates for a total of 75 vulnerabilities on March 8, 2022, as the company announces in its update guide. At the same time there were updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 that fix a data cleaning bug. The security gaps are serious, because according to the BSI, they can be exploited to run any malicious code in the name of the user or even with administrator rights. Attackers could also circumvent security measures in order to paralyze the attacked PC, steal or modify data. To do this, the victim has to open a correspondingly manipulated file, e-mail or website.
